Recycling Guide

The Chesterfield Recycling Center accepts the following items.

Please breakdown your cardboard so that it is flat.

Appliances

We accept most appliances. The following fees apply:

  • air conditioners & dehumidifiers: $25
  • lawn mowers/snow blowers/roto tillers, $10 (gas & oil removed)
  • microwaves, $5
  • refrigerators and freezers, $30 (doors removed)
  • small metal appliances, $4.50
  • small pieces of metal, stovepipe, sheet metal, etc., $5
  • stoves, $15
  • washing machines & dryers, $15
  • water tanks, $15
  • wood stoves, $10 (cleaned out)

Batteries

We accept rechargeable batteries, button (watch) batteries and Lithium Ion batteries. Alkaline batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, 9-volt) may be placed in your household trash.

Books

We accept both hardcover and softcover books in good condition.

Electronics

The following fees apply:

  • TVs (up to 20"), $5
  • large screen TVs (over 20"), $10
  • consoles and large screens TVs, $20
  • computer monitors, printers and CPUs, $5

Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are collected for recycling (for free) through an HRMC program.

Furniture

The following fees apply:

  • couches (two or more seats), $20
  • upholstered (stuffed) chairs, $10
  • small furniture, chairs, etc., $5
  • cabinets, scrap lumber, doors, $10-$20
  • rugs and other bulky items, $5
Prices for unlisted items will be determined by the attendant. Place items in the proper open top box at site.

HHW

Save the date: Saturday, October 18, 2025. The Hilltown Resource Management Cooperative (HRMC) and Clean Harbors Environmental Services will hold a HHW event from 9am - Noon at DPW at 58 Hathaway Rd in Westhampton, MA. Pre-registration is REQUIRED. Registration opens October 1-14, 2025. More details coming soon.

Lightbulbs fluorescent

We accept fluorescent and compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) only. Incandescent bulbs may be placed in your household trash.

Mattresses

The following fees apply: $40 for mattresses and box springs. Note: Residents can save $15.00 per mattress if they want to bring a DRY mattress directly to the Williamsburg Transfer Station. Cost is $25.00/mattress (any size) made payable by check to “Town of Williamsburg”. The Williamsburg Transfer Station is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Williamsburg has a mattress-recycling program. Save $$$ and help the environment!

Mercury

Thermostats, thermometers, etc. Bring to the gate house for safe disposal.

Paint

We accept oil-based paints and stains only. Latex paint cans that are open and dry may be disposed of in the trash. Latex paint cans thar are completely empty and brushed clean can be placed in the metals container.

Propane Tanks

Propane tanks must be empty to be dropped off. Fees apply: 1 lb. (free), 20 lb. ($5)

Textiles

Put textiles and shoes in the CMRK disposal container.

Tires

The following fees apply:

  • passenger tires (with or without rim) $3
  • truck tire (over 18-25") $12.50
  • truck tire with rim $10
  • motorcycle tires $2

Toilets

Fees may apply.
